Who are we?

Soberhood is a community that, while not created for therapeutic purposes, actively engages with the questions raised by socially accepted patterns of alcohol consumption.

It is important to talk about these things openly, honestly, and without shame. To reflect on what kind of relationship we have with alcohol. After all, self-awareness and mindfulness are not only important when we are already facing current obstacles or problems.

What is our purpose?

While we are well aware of the harmful effects of alcohol on health, we do not demonize the substance itself, nor do we believe that everyone should strive for total abstinence. Instead, we focus on cultivating the ability to recognize when and why we tend to reach for a drink.

What drives us in certain situations? What expectations, beliefs, and cultural patterns have shaped our habits? What are we really looking for at the bottom of the glass? Safety? Love? Connection? Relaxation? Freedom? Acceptance?

If we gain a deeper understanding of our own motivations, we may begin to choose different, healthier, and more authentic coping strategies in certain situations.

Does the community serve a therapeutic function?

We are a space for collective self-reflection. We are not addiction specialists, so we cannot offer help, advice, or diagnosis for dependency related issues. If you feel this topic goes beyond curiosity for you, we wholeheartedly encourage you to reach out to professionals or institutions that are equipped to support you. And if you're unsure where to start, feel free to contact us, we’re happy to help guide you in the right direction.
